This one is from the beginning of the summer.
During what I hope to be at least an annual visit, I was out in the Bay Area of California. Some great friends from Tennessee were getting married north of San Francisco, so I went out a week early to visit another dear friend, Blue Dog! For a weekend, we took a break from the city life and went to one of my favorite places in the world, Sierra Nevada Mountains.
We left in the evening and drove through the notorious Friday bay area traffic, across the hot Sacramento valley and into the cool and respite of the mountains near Lover’s Leap. The weekend hike would take us around through the dark to our first camp in the woods, around some smaller lakes, ridges and snow until we reached Lake Aloha, the main attraction. We then went back down the steep scramble/hike of Horseshoe Falls.
Great friend, great place, great time!
